I have continued my progress on “Party Favour” by Billie Eilish by continuing to practice the chord transitions. I find that all of my chords have a really smooth transition between them except F barre, where I have to out my index finger across the whole fret while holding multiple other strings at the same time. The transition is not yet as smooth as I would like it. I will continue, nonetheless, to learn the song. It sounds really pretty so far. I have also experimented using both my steel string acoustic guitar and the classical guitars that they have at the school. Now that I have been using my steel string guitar regularly to practice, I find the classical guitar much easier on my fingers as the strings are not as hard to fully push down. I can much more easily complete F barre on the classical guitar. I’ve also been continuing to attempt to sing while I’m playing, but it has proven difficult to keep my strumming pattern consistent when while doing so. For now, I have taken a break from singing while playing to focus on a more consistent strumming pattern. I have also modified the very beginning of the song so that I’m doing single strums for the first stanza. It adds a really nice, calm start to the sing before I jump into the chorus and the strumming pattern picks up. The overall tempo of the rest of the song is consistent, so having it start slower gives it a nice build up. I want to try doing the same sing strum for each line in the end too, to end the song like it begun.
